I don't have time for a full tutorial - sorry! maybe soon! - but I was sending an email to a client about post processing work and just wanted to share this with you all.
I see so many pictures here on dA that are really good, BUT THEY WOULD BE AMAZING IF THEY JUST TOOK THE TIME TO "DEVELOP" THEM.
Film photographers had to do the same thing, the only difference is now it can be done on a computer. Their ain't nothin' wrong with that in my book.
I love this, You are a fantastic Photographer! Thats what i do alot with my photos when editing, dodging and burning are my two best friends lol with out them i think most of my photos would have been very dull, and also the help of drawing a bit, to make things darken a little. Great Job on this photo And Keep up the Great work!!
In the "Old" days it was film choice, developer choice, development time and exposure combination, and paper. Plus you decided what brand of paper, type, developer, and developmenr technique, plus you had to take into account what kind of enlarger you had: condenser, diffusor or cold light. In some ways much more complex than digital which is actually simpler and less demanding of time and experience in so many ways. Personally while I miss the wonder of working in the darkroom and the fact that what you wound up with was something tangible and when desired a real work of art that would last for generations, I like what I can accomplish in photoshop. Plus the RAW file is really more like a latent image than a negative!
I promise when you visit, that i won't be pedantic.
I may visit Maria J up in San Francisco this summer for a weekend to shoot at her place and in the city. How wonderful to shoot in a city with no laws against public nudity!!!!. You work on the weekends though don't you?
